It is about this time of year that I start to get more than a little squirrely about my outfits. It's a sauna in my office. It's freezing outside. It's even colder at the Reference Desk where I work throughout the day. Plus I wrangle small fries in the morning so anything super pinchy or contentious cannot be handled for long. I also try my darnedest to pick out my clothes the night before but I'm going about 50/50 on this currently. I mostly wish someone would come to my closet and give me fresh eyes to what I know I already own. Anyway, the ever stylish Janet from Love is Blonde suggested that maybe together with a bunch of you we do a "Hey! Look what I put together this morning! Show me what you've got!" That way we all can get through the winter with some style and some new ideas. I expect on my end for there to be some hits and some misses and some repeat ups, downs and middles. But I am hoping to get some inspiration from you all especially given that, like Janet, you have a bit of flare that my traditional soul sometimes lacks. The lowdown on how The Put Together Project works:
- Spend a few extra minutes looking “put together” in the morning. For me that seems to be involving a better night time evaluation of what I want to wear the next day.
- Snap a photo and upload it to the flickr group.
- Get inspired by fellow participants’ outfits, leave comments/notes for others and have fun getting through these dreadful winter months together.
Group guidelines:
- No pressure to be exceptionally fashionable; keep it real
- No negativity about yourself or others
- Post when you can; doesn't have to be every day
- No need to go shopping or spend money on new items - use what's in your closet in new ways, or dig up stuff you haven't worn in awhile
- Open to all: bloggers, tweeters and friends. Sign up for a free flickr account--you can use your existing Gmail account even--and join the group.
Logistical details:
- The easiest way to participate is on flickr, but feel free to blog or tweet your outfit if you prefer.
- Use the twitter hashtag #TPTP to discuss the project and share links/pics on Twitter.
- We're shooting for one full month of Put Togetherness, which gets us to February 7.
- See Janet for html buttons you can snagglepuss.
Again, no pressure. Use The Put Together Project to give you ideas or a chance to pat your friend on the back for looking extra snazzy on a Tuesday. That's easy enough, right? Join us! Because, shoot, even stretchy pants can look sassy.
