Random useless tidbits

Christmas was good. I felt a bit Lowly Worm and so I felt like I had to kind of fake-it-until-I-make-it and that, even now, kind of bums me out. But what can you do.

The baggies of aquatic animals and the squid sub were a huge hit with Ezra and Iris. T loved his iPad Air. I got a lovely gold watch, a gift card that Ezra told me is meant for a "pretty dress," and continued efforts towards finding a fridge that will fit in the current space.

Here is Iris shouting on Christmas morning, "I GOT OCTOPUSSESSSSSS!"

T has been home and off work for the last three weeks and I was home all last week. The kids were home, too. Back in the day, this was a recipe for me counting down the days to the return to schedules, but this year I really enjoyed myself. I felt relaxed. I enjoyed them. I didn't feel cagey.

This could be because the kids are old enough to play on their own and together and without my constant attention. It could be because I'm maybe hitting my groove with being home more. It could be because I was so damn tired I was content to go days without showering. It's anyone's guess, really.

Since we were home, I was able to do some putzing.

I straightened and rehung pictures that were looking wonky (yay plaster. no.). I organized T's closet. I hung some new prints in the stairway. Hung two new cork boards in the kitchen. Purged a bunch of toys from the playroom and Ezra's closet. And we finished the entryway.

Ole!

Might I recommend that you buy these cozy shoes?

Womens AirwalkWomen's Flurry Moc

They are like cute, gold, warm slippers you can wear outside. Also, they're only $10.00 right now + another 20% off. And you can ship free to a store.

Buy them.

No, really, do it.

Iris and Ezra had their last set of swimming lessons on Saturday morning and they received certificates saying they could go on to the next level.

Iris told me that hers states, "I a GOOD SWIMMER, Mama." What Iris lacks in formal stroke training, she makes up for in enthusiasm.

Chewy Sprees will be the end of me and my teeth.

What is random with you?

1. That picture of Iris just kills me dead. DEAD!
2. I ordered a pair of gold slippers. Hopefully in a size big enough to fit my (apparently?) ever-growing feet (yes, this is horrifying, I don't even know).
3. Well shit, I guess that's a random tidbit in and of itself: HAI I AM THIRTY-FIVE IN TWO WEEKS AND APPARENTLY STILL GROWING, BUT JUST MY FEET (But hey, COMFY GOLD SHOES FOR LESS THAN $9 WITH TAX. That is very exciting).
4. Apparently our puppy is putting on a little over half a pound per day, and she's only three months old (and currently sick). The vet said the period of MOST rapid growth doesn't even start for another month. EEP.
5. I have high cholesterol :(
6. I am kind of freaking out about turning thirty-five.
7. Tidbits 3. through 6. make me want to take to the bottle.
8. Tidbits 3. through 7. are spurring me to consider all kinds of radical health-type things for the new year. Go vegan for a bit (see 5.)? OH, OH, RAW FOOD DIET! Back to the gym on the regular. NO ALCOHOL IN 2014 (probably not) (see 7.)? I don't know, SOMEthing.
9. Today I walked in on our new bus-person, who is fantastic, YELLING at a fellow server (who is usually ALSO fantastic). I mean YELLING, with eye-cutting, and angry gesticulations. Restaurants are inherently full of The Drama, and I thought I had walked in on the prelude to some "Mexican Street Justice," as they evidently say in your neck of the woods, so I used The Reasonable Voice and asked them what was going on. "NOTHING," said the server. "_____ is an asshole, and if _____ ever tells me anything like that again..." and here the bus-person made as if to break on of the water goblets they'd been polishing and get slashy with it. "WHOA WHOA WHOA," I said, physically getting between them and busting out The Mom Voice. "ONE OF YOU TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT DAMN NOW." And then it transpired that the other server had had unprotected ESS EE EX with some FB random, and I had to kick it into reverse, because I was willing to be a Buttinski if there was the potential for real violence but like to keep it compartmentalized, and do not want to get my co-workers in my friend-box. ESPECIALLY IF THEY POTENTIALLY HAVE STDS.
10. TL;DR: I like toddlers and puppies and bargain comfortable shoes and am getting old.

Have I told you lately that your children are my favorite on the internet?

And I love your ceiling/walls. Please come do mine next.

That picture of Iris is just the best. Hope the Lowly Worm feelings have passed.

I only buy chewy sprees with the understanding that the whole bag will be gone in 30 mins even though I keep folding it up and zipping it in my purse.

I have so many fake it till you make it days, I feel ya.

Way to go on the octopus winning.

I'm going to check out those shoes.
